Privacy Policy

Lantern Credit, LLC (the “Company” or “Lantern”) is committed to maintaining robust privacy protections for its users. Our Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) is designed to help you understand how we collect, use and safeguard the information you provide to us and to assist you in making informed decisions when using our Service.

For purposes of this Agreement, “Service” refers to the Company’s service which can be accessed via our websites, for example, www.lanterncredit.com, or through our mobile application in which users can receive financial services and products to manage their consumer credit profile. The terms “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the Company. “You” refers to you, as a user of Service. By accepting our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, you consent to our collection, storage, use and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

We collect “Non-Personal Information” and “Personal Identifiable Information.” Non-Personal Information (“NPI”) includes information that cannot be used to personally identify you, such as anonymous usage data, general demographic information we may collect, referring/exit pages and URLs, platform types, preferences you submit and preferences that are generated based on the data you submit and number of clicks.

When you register online at www.lanterncredit.com, Personal Identifiable Information (“PII” or “personal information”) such as your name, address, email address, zip code, gender, birth date, social security number, phone number, driver’s license number and other demographic information is provided to us. Lantern uses this information for identify verification which permits us to pull your credit score and credit report.

Lantern also receives your PII from its business partners—credit bureaus and financial institutions. Your PII is used internally to provide statistical and data analytics and also to assist us in providing you with relative information and updates about our product and services.

The Lantern website and its services are not intended for anyone under 18 years of age. Our consumers and visitors’ privacy is important to us, and we recognize the need to provide additional privacy protection for children on the Lantern website permitting such visitors. Our privacy practices are guided by the United States’ Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, as well as data privacy laws in the United States and other applicable countries. Younger visitors should always check with their parents or guardians before entering information on any website or mobile application and we encourage families to discuss their household guidelines regarding the online sharing of personal information. Information Collected Via Technology

To activate the Service, you do need to submit Personal Identifiable Information during the initial online registration process. To use the Service thereafter, you can access the Service using your email address and password and do not need to submit further Personal Identifiable Information. However, in an effort to improve the quality of the Service, we track information provided to us by your browser or by our software application when you view or use the Service, such as the website you came from (known as the “referring URL”), the type of browser you use, the device from which you connected to the Service, the time and date of access, and other information that does not personally identify you. We track this information using cookies, or small text files which include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies or Flash Cookies are sent to a user’s browser from our servers and are stored on the user’s computer hard drive. Sending a cookie to a user’s browser enables us to collect Non-Personal Information about that user and keep a record of the user’s preferences when utilizing our services, both on an individual and aggregate basis. For example, Lantern may use cookies to collect the following information:

  • Location information. If your device is location-enabled, and you consent, we can access your location and provide offers specific to your location. We may use device information for data such as your city, state, and IP address.
  • Usage and Log information. In addition to cookies, information may also be collected through embedded scripts or Web beacons.
  • Mobile Application Information. (See below.)

What information does the Mobile Application obtain and how is it used?

User Provided Information

When you register with us and use the application, you generally provide (a) your name, email address, user name, password and other registration information; (b) transaction-related information, such as when you make purchases, respond to any offers, or download or use applications from us; (c) information you provide us when you contact us for help; (d) credit card information for payments, and; (e) information you enter into our system when using the application, such as contact information. We may also use the information you provided us to contact your from time to time to provide you with important information, required notices and marketing promotions.

Automatically Collected Information

In addition, the application may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device you use, your mobile devices unique device ID, the IP address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browsers you use, and information about the way you use the application.

Does the Mobile Application collect precise real time location information of the device?

When you visit the mobile application, we may use GPS technology (or other similar technology) to determine your current location in order to determine the city you are located within and display a location map with relevant advertisements. We will not share your current location with other users or partners.

If you do not want us to use your location for the purposes set forth above, you should turn off the location services for the mobile application located in your account settings or in your mobile phone settings and/or within the mobile application.

Do third parties see and/or have access to information obtained by the Mobile Application?

Yes. We will share your information with third parties only in the ways that are described in this privacy statement. We may disclose user provided and automatically collected information:

  • as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process;
  • when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
  • with our trusted services providers who work on our behalf, do not have an independent use of the information we disclose to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.
  • if Lantern is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, you will be notified via email and/or a prominent notice on our website of any change in ownership or uses of this information, as well as any choices you may have regarding this information.

What are my opt-out rights?

Uninstall the application to stop all collection of information by the application. You can also request to opt-out via email at optout@lanterncredit.com.

Data Retention Policy, Managing Your Information

We will retain user provided data for as long as you use the application and for a reasonable time thereafter. We will retain automatically collected information for up to 24 months and thereafter may store it in aggregate. If you would like us to delete user provided data that you have provided via the application, please contact us at optout@lanterncredit.com and we will respond in a reasonable time. Please note that some or all of the user provided data may be required in order for the application to function properly.

Children

We do not use the application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with information without their consent, he or she should contact us at legal@lanterncredit.com. We will delete such information from our files within a reasonable time.

Security

We are concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. We provide physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information we process and maintain. For example, we limit access to this information to authorized employees and contractors who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our application. Please be aware that, although we endeavor provide reasonable security for information we process and maintain, no security system can prevent all potential security breaches.

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. We will notify you of any changes to our Privacy Policy by posting the new Privacy Policy here and informing you via email or text message. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.

Your Consent

By using the application, you are consenting to our processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us. “Processing,” means using cookies on a computer/hand held device or using or touching information in any way, including, but not limited to, collecting, storing, deleting, using, combining and disclosing information, all of which activities will take place in the United States. If you reside outside the United States your information will be transferred, processed and stored there under United States privacy standards.

The Company may use both persistent and session cookies; persistent cookies remain on your computer after you close your session and until you delete them, while session cookies expire when you close your browser. For example, we store a persistent cookie to track website preferences.

Push Notifications

We may send push notices to you via our mobile application to provide you information on products, services, promotions or announcements. If you no longer wish to receive such communications, you may turn them off at the device level.

Information You Provide Us by Registering for an Account

In addition to the information provided automatically by your browser when you visit the website, to become a user of the Service you will need to create a personal profile.  You can create a profile by registering with the Service and entering your email address, and creating a user name and a password.  By registering, you are authorizing us to collect, store and use your email address in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

How We Use and Share Information

Personal Information:

Except as otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy, we do not sell, trade, rent or otherwise share for marketing purposes your Personal Identifiable Information with third parties without your consent. We do share Personal Identifiable Information with vendors who are performing services for the Company, such as the servers for our email communications who are provided access to user’s email address for purposes of sending emails from us.  Those vendors use your Personal Identifiable Information only at our direction and in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

In general, the Personal Identifiable Information you provide to us is used to help us communicate with you.  For example, we use Personal Identifiable Information to contact users in response to questions, solicit feedback from users, provide technical support, and inform users about promotional offers.

Non-Personal Information

In general, we use Non-Personal Information to help us improve the Service and customize the user experience.  We also aggregate Non-Personal Information in order to track trends and analyze use patterns on the website.  This Privacy Policy does not limit in any way our use or disclosure of Non-Personal Information and we reserve the right to use and disclose such Non-Personal Information to our partners, advertisers and other third parties at our discretion.

In the event we undergo a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your Personal Identifiable Information may be among the assets transferred.  You acknowledge and consent that such transfers may occur and are permitted by this Privacy Policy, and that any acquirer of our assets may continue to process your Personal Identifiable Information as set forth in this Privacy Policy.  If our information practices change at any time in the future, we will post the policy changes to the website so that you may opt out of the new information practices.  We suggest that you check the website periodically if you are concerned about how your information is used.

How We Protect Information

We implement security measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access.  Your account is protected by your account password and we urge you to take steps to keep your personal information safe by not disclosing your password and by logging out of your account after each use.  We further protect your information from potential security breaches by implementing certain technological security measures including encryption, firewalls and secure socket layer technology.  However, these measures do not guarantee that your information will not be accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed by breach of such firewalls and secure server software.  By using our Service, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to assume these risks.

Your Rights Regarding the Use of Your Personal Information

You have the right at any time to prevent us from contacting you for marketing purposes.  When we send a promotional communication to a user, the user can opt out of further promotional communications by following the unsubscribe instructions provided in each promotional email.  You can also indicate that you do not wish to receive marketing communications from us in the “Settings” section of the website.  Please note that notwithstanding the promotional preferences you indicate by either unsubscribing or opting out in the Settings section of the website, we may continue to send you administrative emails including, for example, periodic updates to our Privacy Policy.

If you want to terminate your account, Lantern must comply with data recordkeeping and retention requirements. Therefore, when you terminate your account, the information is not immediately deleted and may be retained up to two years. Your account is considered inactive and can no longer be accessed by anyone other than Lantern-authorized personnel.

Links to Other Websites

As part of the Service, we may provide links to or compatibility with other websites or applications.  However, we are not responsible for the privacy practices employed by those websites or the information or content they contain.  This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by us through the website and the Service.  Therefore, this Privacy Policy does not apply to your use of a third party website accessed by selecting a link on our website or via our Service.  To the extent that you access or use the Service through or on another website or application, then the privacy policy of that other website or application will apply to your access or use of that website or application.  We encourage our users to read the privacy statements of other websites before proceeding to use them.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

The Company reserves the right to change this policy and our Terms of Use at any time.  We will notify you of significant changes to our Privacy Policy by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your account or by placing a prominent notice on our website.  Significant changes will go into effect 30 days following such notification.  Non-material changes or clarifications will take effect immediately. You should periodically check the website and this Privacy page for updates.
