Its vivacious and diverse culture finds its roots in a complicated past remembered through many historical monuments and museums. These next EV road trips take you through the South’s major cities and music towns, so you get the full Dixieland experience.

Southeast Road Trip for EVs

The American Southeast EV road trip route includes stops in almost every Southern state. If you’ve never been to the South before, you can follow this large loop to experience a variety of cultures and scenery. The route starts off in Key West, FL and makes its way around a large loop, eventually landing back in Florida (Orlando, to be specific). Feel free to start and end this trip at any point along the route. 1. Book lovers should make a point to visit the Hemingway House and Museum; nature lovers will enjoy the Key West Nature Preserve; and just about anyone can enjoy the public beaches that dot this city’s coastline.  2. Palmetto Park Rd.Boca Raton, FL 33432 This charging station is central to a few different Boca Raton activities that are sure to keep you entertained during your stop. You’re less than two miles from South Beach Park, where you can catch a tan while you wait for your car to charge. There are also several golf clubs in the area if you’re looking to fit in a game. For a more cultural experience, head to the Boca Raton Museum of Art. 3. Cocoa, FLSam’s Club450 Townsend Rd.Cocoa, FL 32926 This charging station is located on Florida’s “Space Coast.” Once you’ve recharged, head about 20 minutes east, crossing the Indian and Banana rivers, to visit the Sands Space History Center on Cape Canaveral. While you’re there, you can also enjoy a walk through the Manatee Sanctuary Park. On your way back to the main road, check out the Kennedy Space Center, located on Merritt Island. 4. Daytona BeachTanger Outlets1100 Cornerstone Blvd.Daytona Beach, FL 32117 This is the same Daytona stop as the I-95 tour. It's a shopping center between the beach and Tiger Bay State Forest. The Daytona Speedway is also nearby, if you’re looking to live out your road trip racing dreams–vicariously, of course! 5. Savannah, GARegions Bank15 Bull St W. Bryan St.Savannah, GA 31401 This spot is right by the American Prohibition Museum, Moon River Brewing Company, and Savannah's Waterfront. If you're feeling brave, you're also within walking distance of the home bases of many ghost tours, such as America's Most Haunted City Tour. 6. Florence, SCWalmart230 N Beltline Dr.Florence, SC 29501 This is a straightforward recharge and restock stop. If you’re looking to kill some time, the Florence County Museum is just a few miles from this charging station.  7. Raleigh, NCThe Car Park233 S Wilmington St.Raleigh, NC 27601 This charging station is located in downtown Raleigh, with plenty of local restaurants and bars to explore. It’s also near the City of Raleigh Museum and Moore Square, where events are held year round.  8. Old Fort, NC78 B Catawba Ave.Old Fort, NC 28762 This charging station is located on the edge of the Pisgah National Forest. So once you’re done recharging, you can drive about five miles to see Andrew’s Geyser and enjoy the verdant landscape along the way. Less than a mile from the charging station is Davidson Fort Historic Park, where you can enjoy demonstrations and hands-on activities that’ll transport you back to the days of the American Revolution.  9. Knoxville, TNState Street Garage500 State St.Knoxville, TN 37903 If you love Southern food, music, and history, this city has your name written all over it. No place encapsulates this more than Market Square, a sprawling 19th-century building that’s home to unique restaurants and concerts and festivals year round. Plus, it’s walking distance from this charging station. 10. Nashville, TN550 BroadwayNashville, TN 37203 This parking spot is in the middle of everything. You can't go wrong! It's near the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Johnny Cash Museum and Cafe, Ryman Auditorium, and other attractions that help Nashville live up to its nickname: The Musical City. 11. Memphis, TNBakery Garage400 Monroe Ave.Memphis, TN 38103 If you love cars, the Edge Motor Museum isn't too far down the road from this stop. You can also walk over the Mississippi River via the Big River Crossing, which provides the perfect backdrop for a road trip selfie.  12. Jackson, MSWhole Foods Market 4500 I-55 NJackson, MS 39211 This suburban charging station is just a few miles from LeFleur's Bluff State Park, where you can enjoy its many lakes, walking paths, and a nine-hole golf course. 13. Biloxi, MSBiloxi Greyhound Bus Station820 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd.Biloxi, MS 39530 There are several attractions located by this charging station. You could check out the Coastal Mardi Gras Museum, Ground Zero Blues Club, and MGM Park, just to name a few options. 14. Montgomery, ALDowntown Montgomery209 Commerce St.Montgomery, AL 36104 This charger is in the heart of downtown Montgomery. In addition to historical attractions, you can get to other memorable locations like the Riverwalk and the Hank Williams Museum. There are also several hotels in the area if you’re looking for a place to spend the night.  15. Birmingham, ALCharging Station630 17th St. NBirmingham, AL 35203 You can get to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, Kelly Ingram Park, and many other historical and performance locations from this charging station. And if you’re looking to kill a few hours and find some inspiration while your car charges, you’re also walking distance to the Birmingham Museum of Art. 16. Atlanta, GAGeorgia Power Company241 Ralph McGill Blvd. NEAtlanta, GA 30308 This particular charging station was chosen because it's the closest to many attractions, including the World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium, and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. You may want to spend a few days in Atlanta to fully absorb the history and culture of the city. 17. Tifton, GAGeorgia Power1215 US-82 WestTifton, GA 31794 This spot is intended to be a quick stop and charge, but if you need a bit of a break, you can find lodging at one of the many hotels in the area or drive north to the Georgia Museum of Agriculture. 18. Gainesville, FLTarget T06873970 SW Archer Rd.Gainesville, FL 32608 Once your car is done charging, drive a few miles to Kanapaha Botanical Gardens, where you can see giant lily pads and a hummingbird garden. Or, if you’re looking for a true Florida experience, head to Sweetwater Wetlands Park, where you can take a tour with a ranger and if you’re lucky, see alligators in their natural habitat.  19. Orlando, FLLake Eola Park512 E Washington St.Orlando, FL 32801 This park is in the center of downtown Orlando. In the park alone, you can rent paddleboats, see a show in the Walt Disney Amphitheater, or relax and enjoy the birds and the skyline. Orlando is the perfect place to conclude your EV road trip through the Southeast. With its plethora of amusement parks and outdoor attractions, you’ll be ending your trip with a bang!

Our road trip through the South’s major music cities runs between Austin, TX, and New Orleans, LA. It’s also within a few miles of the House of Blues, Houston, Bayou Music Center, and White Oak Music Hall. 3. Breaux Bridge, LAWalmart1932 Rees St.Breaux Bridge, LA 70517 This station is on the route primarily for recharging, getting supplies, and grabbing a bite from one of the nearby fast food places. You’re about 50 miles outside of Baton Rouge, LA, if you wanted to make a bluesy detour on your way to the next charging station.  4. Once you've parked, there's plenty you can do before you go to a performance. This stop is near the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and Woldenberg Park.
